Parents

Employing a nanny, maternity nurse or mother's help/junior nanny can be a minefield, especially for first-time parents.

What we do:

  • Personally interview all candidates and verify identification and qualifications along with taking up a minimum of two references. Our thorough vetting service alleviates the stress and anxiety of recruiting, leaving you to concentrate on the candidates you really wish to interview.
  • Request all applicants to obtain an up-to-date Enhanced DBS check and provide information on First Aid courses if the candidate does not already possess a certificate. We are also able to offer advice on Ofsted registration for nannies working in a private home.
  • Discuss the requirements of both nannies and families in detail to ensure we put the more suitable applicants forward for a given position.
  • Offer guidance and support throughout, helping with interviews, contracts of employment, tax and National Insurance, holiday pay, pension rights and providing ongoing support once a placement has commenced.

There is no fee to register with Wimbledon Nannies and as we are a placement agency there would only be an agency fee once a nanny has been secured. Please note: our permanent placement fees are a one-off payment only. This is payable within 14 days from date of invoice.

Wimbledon Nannies is bound by the strict code of conduct of the Recruitment and Employment Confederation, which ensures that all procedures in the selection and checking of candidates are of the highest possible standard.

Please view our Terms of Business which includes our fees. We are one of only a few agencies that charge fixed rates rather than taking a percentage of the nanny’s salary, hence you always know what you are going to pay. Please note: our permanent placement fees are a one-off payment only. This is payable within 14 days from date of invoice.

We offer a number of different types of childcare:

Nannies

The main concern of a Nanny is the safety and well being of the children in her care, although the duties of a Nanny are numerous: educational stimulation in reading, writing and number work; providing a creative atmosphere in which children develop into sociable and independent individuals; the organisation and supervision of the children's social activities; the production of a nutritious diet and responsibility for the children's rooms and their laundry. Our Nannies always have a professional qualification or at least two years successful experience of working in the childcare field. In the case of Nannies without formal qualifications we make rigorous checks on their experience before registering them.

Mother's Help / Junior Nanny

A Mother's Help is there to assist a mother in her own home as a general help - a third arm! In addition to childcare, they would be expected to help around the home, doing light housework, family washing and ironing and helping to prepare family meals, washing-up etc. They should not be expected to perform all the household chores.

The Recruitment Process

We match your particular needs with the requirements of each nanny on our books and then email or post the details to you. You will receive a CV, an applicant profile and details of all checks we have carried out; verified references will be sent once a client is interested in meeting an applicant for the second time, and we encourage all applicants to take their written references along to any interview. We check all references in writing or verbally; we encourage prospective employers to double-check references for themselves, for their own peace of mind.

Once you have indicated the wish to interview potential candidates we ask you if we can give your telephone number to candidates (we only give out your number to the person once you have given your permission) so that they may telephone you directly, or you may prefer to telephone the candidate yourself first. We encourage this initial direct telephone contact but if you want us to set up interviews for you we will, of course, do so. We review each interview with you, feed back the applicants views to you and offer advice as to suitability. If none of the candidates you interview are right for you then details of further suitable candidates are proposed until you have made your final choice

We recommend that a contract be completed between the employer and the prospective Nanny, we can provide a template contract.
